We wear scrubs because they are more practical than the old white uniform dress with stockings. Nurses have to be able to move easily, lift patients, get dirty, etc. Scrubs are cheap, comfortable, and easy to clean (or dispose of) if dirty.

But at least it allows nurses to show off their personalities with their scrubs! However, you can’t account for bad taste.
because it is more practical. nurses/techs/md’s have to move freely and dirt is not noticable. Imagine that you are in an operation room being bi-passed then you suddenly woke up, you see blood everywhere and its evident because all the medical staff wore white.
alot of them wear the floral scrubs or the other patterned scrubs because its bette than one plain color all the time at work, and if they work with kids its less intimidating to kids if they can see a nice image on the nurses scrubs instead of just a color.
All I can think of is that they don’t show blood. When I was hospitalized in a body cast, my nurses wore them and it did not bother me. The care was excellent and that should be all that matters.
I hate those scrubs – and people wear them out in public like they are acceptable clothing.
It looks like they are Hawiian with those awful floral shirts.
There uniforms are worn to make them look perfessional. I wouldn’t want a to have a clown as my doctor
