Had A Blood Sample Taken From Me Today For The First Time…?

and it’s bruising up pretty bad. you can see where the nurse stuck the needle in, and then there’s about an inch of my vein that is just very blue/purple and it’s very sore to the touch. is it normal for people to bruise up that easily from having blood taken out? my boyfriend had some taken out and his arm is perfectly fine….just curious.

Is Is Normal For You To Be Sore After Donating Blood?

Just to let you know this was my first time and not many of the nurses wanted to stick me with the needle because my veins are small. One nurse ended up getting the needle into my vein after three attempts and from then on out was fine. Afterwards, though, my arm felt a little weird like my vein was being tugged a lot or it just felt very awkward. I just want to know if this is normal because I would love to give blood again.

Failed Attempt At Blood Donation, Is My Arm Ok?

The nurse stuck the needle in, and when no blood came one, she probed it around a couple times. Ouch. I’ve never donated before, so is my vein going to be ok to use again for blood donation?

If You Get An Accidental Needle-stick At Work As A Nurse, Are They Required To Test The Patient’s Blood?

My husband got an accidental needle-stick at work 5 days ago. His employer keeps saying they are going to test the patient but have yet to do so. He works in a nursing home. He had his blood drawn at the ER but it can still take 6-12 months for something to show. Are they required to test the patient’s blood or is it just theei decision?
