  1. Well, there is no such thing as a “BSN” nurse. BSN simply means Bachelors in Sciences of Nursing. It’s rather the degree you can achieve in order to become a registered nurse and specialize in something such as “trauma nurse.” Generally, the easiest way to go would be to take the RN (Registered Nurse) program at your community college. This is a two year program where you can achieve your Associates in Nursing Sciences or generally known as AASN (Applied associates in sciences of nursing.) To get into that program, due to the lack of teachers for nursing/nurses it will generally be a limited enrollment program, meaning you will have to take a national test known as “NLN” or “National League of Nurses” test. On this you will have to answer questions in English, Math, & Composite (a verbal test including science & english.) Depending on your scores for this will determine on whether you get in or not, kind of like a competition to see who can do the best on this test. Going back to your SAT scores, colleges just want to make sure that you can enter at college level classes, generally in the nursing programs they just want to make sure of the same thing. It’s okay that you didn’t score well, and instead of those scores some colleges give the option of taking a placement test instead, which will just tell them where in (for ex.) math you should be placed. But you will have to do research and call your college and find out more in depth on that. Once you finish with your AASN you can then choose what college you want to go to for your BSN, or you can just enter the Nursing field immediatly and find a job that way. If you do wish to earn your BSN, there are 2 options; Online college or Campus College. Some examples of online schools that offer BSN would be 1. Penn State Online 2. Agrosy Online College and 3. University of Phoneix Online or you can just choose to go to a college in your area that has a BSN program.
Otherwise you could start out at a 4 year college, getting your AASN first, and then continuing on to getting your BSN. But make sure that you research and know what type of nursing you want to go into during the time of achieveing your BSN, because you will have to choose different classes for different types of nursing, such as a childhood development class if you want to be a pre natal nurse (also known as working with the newborn babies.)
You will go through 4 years of college to achieve a BSN, and will be taking classes such as Human Anatomy all the way to microbiology and then on to Nursing Fundamentals and Speech classes, ect.,ect.
But if you have any more questions feel free to ask, and I wish you good luck. Hope I could help ya out.

  2. My daughter just became a RN. She had some of the same problems you have. Her solution. First she became a LPN. Then she went to school again to become a RN. Now she plans to go for the BSN. By taking it in this order you are gaining experience as you learn. Makes it easier. If for some reason you don’t make it all the way to BSN, you are still in the nursing profession. Good Luck to you. We need dedicated people like youself (The money isn’t bad either. I’ve been teaching for 20 years and my daughter makes more than I do in her first year as a RN).
Note: Have to disagree with Sydney. The nurses at our hospital wear name badges that have their name and title. Those with the BSN have BSN beside their name. And they are referred to by staff as BSN nurses.

  3. im a first yr nursing student. i was also an ok student as a senior but i got in easily cos nurses are needed. so far in class we done some science- mostly biology related, its not too bad. also some basic maths for drug calculations- just fractions and stuff, none of that other crap you do in school. the course im doing takes 3 years to become qualifed. im in Australia so i dont know what things are like in florida but i recommend that you do try to get into nursing, its pretty cool.
