Can Cna’s Work In The Ob At A Hospital?

As a CNA can I work in the O.B.? I would love to take care of babies and mothers. I eventually plan on becoming an LPN or RN in the O.B. and feel like this would an excellent opportunity to get familiar with the surroundings in which I would work in the OB. I’m also only 17 will that affect my chances on being a CNA in the OB.

  1. I have never seen a CNA in an OB unit (i’ve never heard it called “the OB”). I think there is a lot of liability that the hospital takes by employing doctors, nurses, and midwives in an ob unit, and i don’t think there are anyone usually any lower than an RN on the unit at a given time. At least that was the case where I did my clinical rotation and from what i’ve heard from nurses i’ve worked with.
