Nursing School?

I am a high school student planning to go to college for nursing. Do you know if I am academically competitive enough for nursing school in a state university?

My GPA is about 3.8
My QPA is about 16.04 (within top 15 % of my class).

I don’t know about the SAT scores (I took the ACT), but definitely focus on your math and science when you study. The entire score is important, no doubt, but those are the biggies. Your GPA/QPA look excellent to me. There is currently a shortage of nursing teachers, so admissions will be competitive because of limited classes. Good luck!

  1. You will be fine with that GPA. Nursing school is very demanding and you must have top-notch time management skills. Make sure you are up to date with your math/science/writings skills. When you get into school, realize your social life will diminish. Just pick one day a week to leave free for your mental health. Good luck in school and in your career as a nurse.

  2. If you are good in math and the sciences, you should have no problems with nursing school. Take as many biology, chemistry, physical sciences that you can.

  3. my plan is like yours. i heard from my counselor that san francisco has a good nursing school. check their website. the math score must be higher than 550, i think the same goes with critical reading.
