Here is useful site that you might want to check out. It looks like they have information and resource about how to register online nursing school and courses, etc… hope this helps.

High High School GPA. Low College GPA. What should I do to get into a nursing program after college?

3.0 High School GPA. 2.4 College 4 year GPA. Are community colleges my only chance for a nursing degree? I am in Illinois so if anyone knows any schools near Chicago that I might have a chance of getting in that would be great to hear.

hello there! I work for a school of nursing, not in the illinois area, but we’re pretty much the same everywhere. The community college idea is great! We get so many transfer students from community colleges. The first thing you should do is explore transfer programs at 4 year schools. A lot of times they may be called accelerated, perhaps even the community colleges have feeders into a 4year program. Big thing to keep in mind is how well you do in your science courses. Anatomy & Physiology, Microbiology, and Organic Chemistry are courses we look at when evaluating prospective students. Even if you overall GPA is not a 3.0, having an outstanding science record ususally trumps that requirement. Best of luck!

nursing school waitlist and student loans?

Hello -

If I am on a waitlist for nursing school, it will be probably a year or so before i can get in- do I need to start paying student loans back right away when I am still waitlisted, or do I get to wait until after I am finished with clinicals?

thanks!

if you have previous student loans, you only get a 6 month grace period, after you have graduated. this is assuming you have a loan from the federal gov. so after 6 months you must begin to pay it back. you only get a deferral on that loan if you are in fact registered and currently going to school. so being on the waitlist, you will still have to pay old loans.
now if you mean you took out loans to go to nursing school and the check was sent directly to the school, then no you will not have to pay it back, because you are not registered in the school yet, so therefore they have not used any of it yet. but if you received the check yourself instead of it going to the school, then yes you will definitely have to adhere to the loan policy and pay it back whenever they decided it would be due.

Depends on what you want to do. Surgery Techs work with the surgeons and the RNs oversee things generally here in the US.

My mother’s nursing home wants cash for a holiday tip pool for staff, how much is appropriate?

The nursing home has requested a cash donation to be pooled and spread out amongst the staff as a holiday gift. She’s only been there about six months and I don’t know how much is appropriate. Etiquette sites say to give a gift, not cash so that doesn’t help.

I would wonder what their policy says on that. I would hope that would be a no no. I can see you buying a gift for them if you want but to be asked for cash? OMG that is rude rude rude. I would call the director and ask about that.
