I’m 18 years old turning 19 in Sept. I’m about to graduate High school. Right after highschool I plan go to my community college. If I start right away how long will it be till I become a RN? I plan to be a full time student.

RN in 2 years full time. BSN in 4

You usually have to do 1-2 years of pre-reqs before you can apply. It depends how quick you finish those. Then you apply to a nursing program. The 2 year programs have wait lists, so it ends up taking nearly the same amount of time if you just went for your BSN. It’s usually a total of 5-6 years just for your BSN.
However, I strongly encourage you to become a CNA first. It’s very easy/cheap to do this and will benefit you a WHOLE lot before you make the mistake of going into nursing only to find out there are no nursing jobs…and you’re in $ 50,000 tuition debt..which is a LOT of money to pay off.
I know over 20 BSN grads who have yet to find a job. I know some BSN nurses who have years of experience..they have been searching for jobs for 5-8 months and are really stressed because there just aren’t enough nursing positions out there. It will only get worse.
I’m a nurse and currently back in school majoring in Business. Much better pay, hours, and respect.
Take Care and feel free to ask me anymore questions that you may have.
