Comment on Can you get a 4th degree felony expunged in New Mexico? by lillllbit http://www.nursingnet.org/can-you-get-a-4th-degree-felony-expunged-in-new-mexico/#comment-7219 lillllbit Fri, 03 Jun 2011 22:44:18 +0000 http://www.nursingnet.org/can-you-get-a-4th-degree-felony-expunged-in-new-mexico/#comment-7219 If you pleaded no contest, that's the same as guilty. If you served three years of probation, you may have successfully completed the probation but that doesn't mean the charges were dismissed. Your probation was discharged (completed) but the charges are not dismissed. Probation does not mean- "If you be good for so-many years, we'll forget all about this..." , it means- "If you be good for so-many years, we won't send you to jail NOW..." You generally can't have pleas of nolo or guilty expunged. That's why they call it a "criminal RECORD".... If you pleaded no contest, that’s the same as guilty. Comment on Which would be better for me? ACT OR SAT? by JL423 http://www.nursingnet.org/which-would-be-better-for-me-act-or-sat/#comment-7211 JL423 Fri, 03 Jun 2011 19:57:43 +0000 http://www.nursingnet.org/which-would-be-better-for-me-act-or-sat/#comment-7211 I'd suggest taking that ACT, because its easier than the SAT. The SAT is more based on your reasoning skills and your IQ. Its more like an intelligence test. The ACT is based on everything that youve learned throughout high school, and its much easier to study for than the SAT. I studied for weeks for the SAT, and when I took it, I scored a 1660. I'm registered to take the ACT in a few months, and I just recently took an ACT practice test. Without studying at all, I scored a 26 on the ACT, which equivalent to a 1790 SAT Be prepared to pace yourself though, because in 2 out of the 4 parts ACT you will have to answer 60 questions in 60 minutes for one section, and 75 questions in 45 minutes in another. If youre good at answering alot of questions in short amounts of time, I'd say go for the ACT I’d suggest taking that ACT, because its easier than the SAT. The problem is that even though the economy is creating jobs (60,000 in October), it's not at a high enough rate to absorb the number of people entering the job market. Please keep in mind that this isn't your fault. I don’t know what to tell you, other than it will in fact get better. However if you are not planning to go to an east coast school or a top west coast school like Stanford than you should be fine by taking the ACT. Most will take either one. In general (at least when I was in high school), midwestern schools like the ACT while others tend to go for the SAT, but I have no idea about Alaska. I suggest taking both--that way you're covered no matter what. See if you can find out if the school you are applying to prefers one over the other. Most will take either one. Hospitals are insecure because of the big changes Obama has done in health care and do not want to hire people because of it. If the Republicans win big in the electio, that might alleviate the fear, but I can't guarantee it. This is not normal partisan politics, but what I am hearing from the medical industry. I am trying to help an RN get a job right now. Have you tried an agency? The key is getting experience. AS soon as you got that, it's easier to find a job. There is still a need for nurses. Because the ACT has a science section I would suggest taking that but taking the SAT's would also be beneficial because colleges tend to look at SAT's more often than the ACT. Comment on How do you go from a Associates degree to Bachelors degree in nursing? by Jill http://www.nursingnet.org/how-do-you-go-from-a-associates-degree-to-bachelors-degree-in-nursing/#comment-7201 Jill Fri, 03 Jun 2011 18:26:26 +0000 http://www.nursingnet.org/how-do-you-go-from-a-associates-degree-to-bachelors-degree-in-nursing/#comment-7201 Think of the ADN degree as the Freshman and Sophomore years of a full BSN. You only need roughly another 18-24 months to complete the BSN if you go through an "RN to BSN" bridge program. There are many programs available at local state colleges and universities, you can probably complete most, if not all courses online with the exception of any clinical requirements you might have. I did my BSN by this route, earning the ADN then going through an RN to BSN program at a local university, completed it online in 3 semesters.
